1. The story behind the name - The Waghoba Eco Lodge derives its name from the Marathi word for tiger, “wagh”. The story behind the name is fascinating, as the lodge is named after an ancient tiger or leopard deity that has been worshipped for centuries by various tribes in India. The name Waghoba comes from the combination of two Marathi words: “wagh” and “ba”. “Wagh” refers to tiger, whereas “ba” is a term of respect. The deity Waghoba is either worshipped as a leopard or a tiger or as one that can take both forms. The local communities have firm faith in the fact that Waghoba protects them and the forests.
